This Is ‘Home’
Home has always been and will always be more than just a song. Home was born at a festival, where at the time I felt like I belonged, however when I boiled that feeling down I realised that it wasn't the place that was "Home", it was the feeling. The cliche "Home is where the heart is" finally made a lot more sense to me that went deeper than just words. I wish for this feeling to be felt by everybody and for this song to stand for the celebration of life and togetherness. Home is everywhere and inside everyone, which in my opinion is worth singing and dancing about. Around a campfire one day, after singing Home, someone, from out of the dark said... "Hey Deano, you should make an Album called Home." They had realised that a few of my songs had the word "Home" in it, little did they, or even I myself know that I was in fact in search of "Home" and the more I played my song Home the closer it felt. From a young age I was yearning for a relationship that I associated with the idea of Home and music became my therapy that remedied this feeling. Often what came out musically was pent up anger, frustration, sadness and grief until.... The day I sat in a field at a festival and first wrote "Home". It became my lifeboat and opened my eyes, heart and mind to all of the incredibly beautiful things, people and places that enrich my life. Fast forward to the moment I met a friend that whilst around the campfires would always look over the flames and hint for me to play Home... This person is now my beautiful wife Tara Joy. She always believed in the song and was so supportive, encouraging me to share this with the world. For my birthday one year Tara created this absolutely stunning image (Above) that visually encases everything that "Home" as an Album stands for. Thank you Tara for believing with me and for helping me to bring this feeling to life. This amazing image hangs in my studio as visual inspiration for me whilst recording the rest of this Album. I wish for this song and album to remind people that darkness can breed light, from pain and hardship empathy and feelings of connectedness are born and that now is the time to appreciate where we are, who we are, who we are with, and what we are capable of.
